Casey’s & Prime Pubs Announce Franchisees of the Year

Mississauga, ON – May 8, 2007 – At a recent Awards Dinner in Toronto, Prime Restaurants of Canada Inc. proudly announced the winners of its Franchisee of the Year awards for its Casey’s Grill · Bar and Prime Pubs divisions. The awards recognize Prime franchisees for their operational excellence, management innovations and financial performance.

Mario Di Marco, Franchisee of Casey’s Scarborough (Warden) was named as Casey’s Franchisee of the Year. "In addition to being a savvy, hands-on businessman who last year ran one of the most profitable locations in the Casey’s chain and successfully increased same store sales by six per cent, Mario makes working at Casey’s fun," said Grant Cobb, Vice President of Casey’s and Prime Pubs "When the staff are laughing and having fun, it’s contagious and the guests do too – and that’s one of the key drivers to the exceptional success of his restaurant."

Fionn MacCool’s Calgary was named as Prime Pubs’ Franchisee of the Year. Fionn MacCool’s Calgary is located in the Sheraton Suites Hotel (Eau Claire) and owned and operated by Legacy Hotels REIT. Accepting the award were Craig Riopel, General Manager of Fionn MacCool’s and Ross Meredith, Hotel General Manager. "Year after year, Craig and Ross have been superstars, not only within Prime Pubs but within their local community. Their innate hospitality and innovation translates into very happy guests, and a very successful restaurant with 15 per cent same store sales increase last year," said Cobb.

Additional honours that were awarded during the Awards Dinner included Excellence in Operating Standards awarded to Patricia Griffith, Casey’s Brampton (Orion Gate) and Nicholas Lambros, D’Arcy McGee’s Bells Corners. General Manager of the Year was awarded to Robert Medal, Bier Markt on The Esplanade in Toronto. Winners of these awards received a sculpted glass trophy and a monetary prize.

Fifteen Casey’s and Prime Pubs franchisees were also honoured with the President’s Club award. Honourees met and exceeded stringent criteria including a minimum five per cent year-over-year sales increase. All winners of this award received a trip for two to the luxurious Ritz Carlton in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
